Painted as a reflection on the seasons here in Montana, I used the natural colors and plants of each season as an inspiration. Behind each deer is a stylized moon correlating with the seasons: the fawn of Spring (“Cherryblossom Rhapsody”) has a First Quarter Moon, the young doe of Summer (“Sweetgrass Serenade”) has a Full Moon, the buck of Fall (“Aspenleaf Madrigal”) has a Last Quarter Moon, and the mature doe of Winter (“Willowbranch Requiem”) has a New Moon.
